We're Looking for a Disciplinarian

WWSL is looking for a Disciplinarian. This is a non-voting, volunteer, appointed position with the WWSL.

Position 

Disciplinary Chair (non-voting) 

Qualifications and Skills 

Ability to read and interpret Rules & Governance by WWSL, MSA and CSA

Good standing with Manitoba Soccer Association and Canada Soccer Association  

Has fair and objective judgement 

  • Strong written & verbal communications 
  • Conflict resolution & mediation skills an asset 
  • Ability to conduct hearings or follow ups professionally and calmly 
  • Strong administration and organization skills 
  • Understanding of the game, current player not required 
  • Previous Referee experience an asset but not required 
  • Ability to work effectively with referees, MSA, the Liaison and other board members 

Responsibilities 

The Discipline Chair ensures that all disciplinary matters within the league are handled fairly, consistently, and in accordance with league by-laws, provincial soccer regulations, and the principles of good governance. This role upholds respect, sportsmanship, and accountability across all divisions. 

  • Review all red card notices and ejections 
  • Review yellow card accumulations 
  • Review appeal submissions  
  • Chair the Appeals Committee 
  • Review complaints that are escalated to Chair by the WWSL Board of Directors 
  • Convenes with the WWSL Referee Liaison with Referee Grievances  

Requirements 

  • Attend monthly board meetings as requested 
  • Arrange Discipline hearings as required  
  • Operate in 365 Cloud program  
  • Provide monthly reports as required to league and/or MSA as required 
  • Provide written reports on decisions  

Time Commitment 

Approximately 4-6 hours per month. 

Term 

Appointed on a 1-year term at the Annual General Meeting
